Easter Morning...

The Easter Bunny came to visit in honor of "Jesus coming back"! The bunny tries to fill the Easter Buckets with item that will encourage the boys relationships with Christ. However, a few practical/summer items also got slipped in this year too! Davis' bucket is on the left & Noah's bag is on the right. Noah was the first one up on Easter morning so he hung out in his excersaucer until big brother woke up!

Davis woke up shortly there after and came running down to see what the Easter Bunny had brought him!

Davis dug into his bucket and pulled out a new Veggie Tales movie! Noah is patiently waiting for someone to open up his presents for him!

Davis is showing Noah a few of their new items! Notice the matching PJ's! I love it when they match! It's silly I know but I can't help it! If only I could find those in Matt's size!

Davis finally got a baseball glove! I was way more excited about this than anybody else! Softball was such a big part of my childhood- perhaps baseball will be for Davis. Sadly, at this point in time he doesn't seem overly interested! Then again, he is only 2!!!

Lifeway Christian book store had some awesome deals this year that the Easter Bunny really took advantage of this year!

Davis really thought Noah needed to surrounded by all of his toys, in the excersaucer! Needless to say I had to intercede before it got too crowded!

We had a wonderful Easter morning celebrating our risen Savior!

Easter Egg "Hunt" 2010....

A local church had a massive Easter egg "hunt" this year (40,000 eggs total). And by "hunt" I mean sighting. Hunt would imply a search would be involved & as you can see that was NOT the case! But this new method certainly worked for our 2 1/2 year old!Below Avery & Davis are wishing each other good luck before the "hunt" begins...

Miss Avery was a bit sleepy but don't let her fool you... she can hunt eggs with the best of them!

After they said "GO" the adrenaline surged! I mean where does a boy start with so many eggs?

My boys scoping out their loot! After all the kids had gotten their eggs there were still plenty of eggs to get! Seriously, it was an overwhelming amount of eggs!!! We even threw some of our eggs back onto the older kids field because who needs that many eggs (especially when the Easter bunny had yet to come)!

They also had a carnival like setting there with blow up games, food, & face painting! Davis, not being a fan of crowds, was ready to go home after the egg hunt! His mission had been accomplished. Avery however, was ready to stay and play!!! Maybe one day she can help loosen his sweet, serious spirit up!

Easter Eggs....

Happy Easter Everyone! I've not been great about updating my blog and when that happens I always get slightly overwhelmed and wonder where to start? So I'm just going to jump right into it & try to catch up over the next several post! After school one day we decided to dye some Easter eggs & Gigi came over to help because Mommy had a meeting for work (yes, I've started working part-time from home for my former employer- different post for a different day)!

So here we are gently putting the eggs into the dye... well most of them went in gently! Drinking some water from a "big boy" cup....

We let them dry and then put the stickers on (Davis is a HUGE sticker fan)!

Picking up his favorite ones & trying to imitate their faces! Turns out they are all his favorites because we pretty much did this with every. single. one.

He is all about loving his brother these days! Very affectionate towards the little guy!

And he can pretty much make Noah smile like nobody else can!

Noah is thinking he knows exactly what he's gonna do next year once he can join in the fun!

And I believe this is where Davis is asking/ telling Noah which one should be his favorite! But really the thing to observe in this picture is the length of the drool! That is life for us these days! No sign of any teeth yet but it should be any day (though I've been saying that for quite some time now)!

We had fun! By the time we were finished several (ok- almost all) of the eggs had boo-boos & cracks! But as Davis said "We all have cracks"! Yes, folks he is indeed a funny boy!

Mmmm, Mmmm Good!

At the beginning of this month we started giving Noah some rice cereal! Much to nobodies surprise the kid loves it! No hesitation whatsoever- "Bring It" he says! I'm looking forward to starting him on some more exciting flavors but am waiting for our pediatrician to give the OK! We go see him for a well visit on Thursday- I'm anticipating some more shots so wish us luck! How could anyone want to hurt this cute face below????

Side Note- Notice Davis in the background of the picture above. I"m convinced that play dough was made by a mom with two kids! I don't know for sure but it's just a hunch I have!

Another Day At Work...

At the beginning of last week, Matt took a day off of work! We've been battling colds & stomach bugs in our household for weeks on end & I think he could tell I was in need of some help! Noah didn't want Matt to feel like he was missing to much at work so he decided to dress up for him (yes, Matt is one of the only people out there who still "Dresses up" for work, tie and all everyday)!

My friend Cynthia made the onesie above and can applique anything! If you are interested in contacting her let me know & I will give you her contact info! She is great & so creative! She has made some adorable things & we are honored to have a few of them!!!!

We greatly appreciated having Matt around! Unfortunately, guess who had a bad cold by the end of the week? You guessed it! Matt did! Fortunately he seems to be feeling better but it has been a battle zone around here! Dare I say we are nearing the end? I do think things are improving but we are still sooo ready for spring to come!!!!

(Not quite sure why the spacing is off in this post- it's a blogger issue! One I"m not willing to spend another minute trying to fix)! Enjoy your evening people!

Potty Training is Not for the Weak...

Or for the impatient... Or for the easily grossed out! But I'm happy to say that our household has survived (better yet, present tense is still most appropriate... is surviving)!


As I write this post, I wonder what in the world I'm doing posting this info on our blog but I have to remind myself that my primary purpose of this blog is for documentation purposes... so here I ago- I do apologize!


The month of February was spent potty training! I was fully hoping that by the time March arrived we would be done with the training. But you know, I'm learning that for us, this is not a sprint but rather a marathon! We are about 75% there! You see peeing on the potty has not been complicated but somewhere along the way my son decided that going #2 wasn't for him. Not just in the potty, but anywhere. He basically would shut down his colon for 3-4 days at a time! Cringe with me everyone!

However, I'm happy to say that slowly but surely he has become more comfortable with the idea. People were able to offer lots of good advice. Some suggested we stop all together, that this was a sign that he just wasn't ready. However, he had mastered the art of peeing and rarely had accidents so I hated to digress in that area! Some suggested pumping him with fiber & fruit- which I have done but wasn't the cure all I had hoped it would be! I finally just decided to drop all mention of going poop in hopes, that he would become more comfortable with the idea & not feel pressured. Sure enough he became regular again (and in much better moods)! We used a combination of big boys underwear & pull-ups during this phase (which some strongly discouraged) but they worked great for us! I'm happy to report that he has now gone #2 quite a few times in the potty! He also regularly goes at school without a problem & in public (with him telling us he has to go- that is a key element). We are on our way peeps, not perfect but well on our way! I can hear the crowd cheering at the finish line but we have yet to cross it!


For Davis' very first success on the potty he got Duck the engine (which he actually had gotten at Christmas time but we put it up because he had received so many others- those sneaky parenting tactics are handy)! From there on out we created a chart- every time he went pee he got a new "Thomas" sticker. Once the track was full he got another engine. I failed to realize how quickly he would catch on & made the track way too short- lesson learned! In the end he got a "big, strong engine" named Henry or "Hengry" as Davis says!Gigi was so proud of him when he first went #2 he got "Rosie" the train! What can we say? Trains are this little boy's love language & make great incentives!So the big question- boxers or briefs? Boxer briefs have actually been a big hit for Davis- even more so than character underwear. Who knew? Well you do now & you probably know much more than you want too! Dear Teenage Davis- I'm sorry. If I thought I had a good memory maybe I wouldn't write so much down! It's just because I adore you (even potty training you) & I don't want to forget a thing!
