Noah's 7 Month update!

Noah turned 7 months old this week! Where in the world has time gone? He has been so much fun to have around and I look and think how incomplete our world was without him! He is fairly laid back however, I'm beginning to wonder if he may have a little temper? Or maybe it's just teething?! Only time will tell! I adore him regardless!
He did get two teeth (one after the other) at 6 months- I would have bet money that they would have come sooner but he proved me wrong! We go through at least 3 bibs a day due to the large amount of druel he creates! It is something else! Almost any attention makes him smile (which I love)! Davis was very serious and you had to "work" to get your smile! Noah just hands them out so freely! Thanks buddy!
I must confess there is a problem I'm having lately! Everywhere we go people stop and comment on two things: First the rolls! The kid has rolls in places I didn't know rolls could exist! And who knew rolls could be so darn cute?

Secondly, once they stop and give him attention he then rewards them with is cute two toothy grin. Which just endears people more! These little incidents are a blessing and a curse I tell you! I do love sharing my adorable little boy with others and am so glad he brings a smile to so many peoples faces! They obviously bring a smile to his face too! It is a win-win situation! However, combine 3 of the incidents that can last anywhere from 3-5 minutes and a quick trip inside Belks can turn into a marathon! I always feels so guilty when I just have to start pushing the stroller away from people to indicate that their bonding time with this rolly polly is up! I know, I should be ashamed of myself but really sometimes I have places to be and things to do!
Noah went for his 6 month appointment last week and he is remaining in the 90th percentile all the way around! We are amazed at how proportionate he is! The little chunk weights 20 lbs and a few ounces! I think Davis weighed 22 lbs at his 1 year appointment so I shudder to think about what Noah will weigh! He one of the best arm workouts you can have! The doctor isn't concerned with his weight and I frankly, neither am I. This is how God made him and in our view every roll is perfect!
He started sitting up about 3 or 4 weeks ago and is doing great with that! Dr. D. said it was really impressive that he could sit so well considering he is a "bigger baby". He is also soooo close to crawling! He wants to so badly! About two weeks ago he started lifting his belly off the ground & tucking those knees up underneath him! He then starts to rock back and forth but hasn't truly made forward progress (minus the face plants and army crawls)! Davis has tried to show him but more training is obviously required! We will keep ya'll posted on his progress! Happy 7 month birthday Noah! You are such a blessing to each of us!

(I had to throw this picture in! It was Addison's 2nd birthday and she was so sweet to Noah! You can tell she is a good big sister to her brother Will (born 1 day after Noah)!

The Things You Say....

One night we were having steak for dinner and I wanted to Davis to try it but had told Matt “If he doesn’t eat this I will make him a sandwich”. We don’t typically do this at all but I was thinking the last thing I want my child to get hooked on is filet mignon. So as I set Davis’ plate before him he said “Ohhhhh, thank you for dinner mommy!” Then in the same breath he said, “Now make me a sandwich”! Little stinker!

I was getting ready one Friday night to go to a couponing seminar (I know, I know, I live an exciting life)! I put on a new bright blue silk shirt and walked into the den where the boys were wrestling. Davis stopped and so sweetly said “You look Beautiful mommy!” I can’t lie, it melted my heart! Then he said in his sweet broken sentence voice, “You wearing blue- just like Thomas [as in Thomas the Train]! It made me stop & question the true sentiment behind the compliment. However at the end of the day, I take what I can get! Especially from a boy as cute as he is!

Mother's Day 2010

For Mother’s Day this year Davis’ class invited all the mom’s to a luncheon for a “special day”. We were asked to wear a dress and Davis reminded me several times to wear a dress! The morning of the big day I went in to get Davis up and the first thing he said was “Mommy you are in a dress! It’s your special day!” (Perhaps I should put on a dress more often so it's not quite so alarming)!

(The invitaiton to the luncheon)

(The placemat Davis made for me)

The luncheon was nice. After lunch, we were presented with a card where each child had answered questions about thier mommy! His teachers had been telling me for days that they couldn’t wait for me to get mine! So I was nervous to see exactly what he had said! You just never know?!

It turns out that when they asked him how old I was, Davis said “I know she is really old”! Everyone thought that was hilarious! I’m one of the younger moms (if not the youngest) in the class!

He was also asked what Mommy’s favorite thing to do is! His response broke my heart! He replied watch TV and computer! It literally broke my heart! I really don’t watch a lot of TV (and really none during the day when he is awake)! However, I have recently started working from home so my time on the computer has increased significantly! I really almost cried when reading this! My favorite thing to do is NOT get on the computer but spend time loving on my boys! Ever since the luncheon I’ve tried to make a conscious effort to decrease the amount of time on the computer regardless of work. Raising my kids is first and foremost. I was very clear on this when my employer called and asked me to consider working from home. It isn’t my employers fault but I have a very hard time not responding to email right away, putting out fires immediately, etc. The debate between working moms and stay at homes moms always brings up the question “Can you have it all?” I now understand, that even in this ideal, working from home part-time, create your on hours position, you indeed cannot have it all. But I’ve concluded that I do know the One who is my All and that is more than enough for me. I pray He helps me balance out my life a little bit more and remind me of my priorities!

With that said, you never really know how seriously to take these surveys. The next question asked was “What is your favorite thing to do with your mommy?” He responded, “go the gym, read books, paint & color.” Sounds reasonable! However, I don’t have a gym membership, though I would love one! So, we aren’t quite sure where that came from! I told Matt it must be because he thinks I look like I’m in such good shape! Matt just laughed at that one…. I’m not sure why J

We do however, read books (countless ones each day), color, and on the days I’m feeling brave- we paint! Though I know this is what he enjoys, it’s sweet to hear him voice his thoughts! TV, computer, gym membership and all!
At the end of the afternoon, Davis gave me a flowerpot that he painted at school. All the other mom’s flowers had tons of cute blooms on them. My flower, well it’s bloomless structure looked more like a weed. The teachers apologized and told me they had one flower that looked terrible and figured I was so easy going that they hoped I wouldn’t mind! The offered to bring in a replacement the next school day but I assured them that wasn’t necessary. It wasn’t about the flower anyway; the pot it was planted in with my son’s cute fingerprints all around it was a wonderful gift for me!

It was a fun, humbling, and wonderful special day!

A sign from Granddaddy...

The other night the four of us were at Target (our second home) and we were getting in our car when Davis said, “There’s a line in the sky”!

I looked up and sure enough in the dusk of the evening an airplane had left a perfectly straight smoke line in the sky. I said, “Yep, an airplane did that!”

Davis said matter-of-factly, “Granddaddy is on an airplane to Texas”. Which was partially true, he had left earlier that day to fly and see our family in Texas.

Then with his eyes wide open, he exclaimed “Granddaddy drew a line in the sky just for ME!” Matt and I couldn’t help but agree that Granddaddy did indeed do that just for him!

Does he have that child wrapped around his finger or what?

I'm confident the feeling is mutual!

Prayer...

Though this happened a few months ago I still thought it was worthy of sharing! We had the pleasure of attending Avery's 2nd birthday party at the end of March! When preparing to eat Rosie said something along the lines of "Okay everyone we are going to say a quick prayer." Right then Davis started singing the prayer in front of approximately 40 people or so! Yes, my shy son was basically preforming a solo in front of a huge crowd! He does typically say the blessing for us when we are at home but in front of a crowd, with no hesitation, was quite uncharacteristic of him! I hope he never feels any hesitation when it comes to conversing & praising God, whether he is by himself or in a crowd!
